About the partnership
As part of Snowy Hydro’s commitment to regional capacity building, we have been a proud partner of Tourism Snowy Mountains (TSM) since 2010.
Together, we are dedicated to fostering a vibrant year-round tourism economy, directly contributing to the region’s sustainability.
Snowy Hydro’s association with the Snowy Mountains began more than 75 years ago, with the Snowy Scheme being a well-documented part of our nation’s history and a leading example of Australian innovation and ingenuity. It’s also credited with helping build a more diverse and accepting Australia thanks to the migrants from more than 30 different countries who worked together to build this engineering marvel.
The Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre in Cooma is one of the region’s favourite tourist attractions. Here, visitors can learn more about the Snowy Scheme’s past, present and future and become familiar with the fascinating stories behind the engineering and our people.
Our partnership with TSM also allows us to share the significance of the Snowy Scheme and the Snowy Hydro we know today with visitors to the region.
Snowy Hydro also has a representative sitting on the TSM Board.
About Tourism Snowy Mountains
Tourism Snowy Mountains is the peak body for destination marketing and tourism business development in the Snowy Mountains region. The organisation is made up of representatives from major tourism businesses in the Snowy Mountains along with skills-based Directors who work together voluntarily to grow year-round visitation and build the tourism industry.
Tourism Snowy Mountains has been in existence for over twenty years and works to maintain relationships between the local industry and Government organisations such as Snowy Monaro Regional Council, Destination Southern NSW, Destination NSW and Tourism Australia.
As custodians of the Snowy Mountains brand, Tourism Snowy Mountains seeks to enhance awareness and appeal of the region, increase the brand’s social value and deliver on our organisation’s vision; “to work collaboratively with industry and government to deliver effective marketing activities and maximum opportunity for Australia’s most desirable nature-based adventure destination”.
